The body of a miner was found in a pool of blood at 17 Miles Rockstone Village, Essequibo River, sometime around 19:30hrs yesterday (June 11, 2018).
The dead man had been identified as 19-year-old Joel Amad, a resident of Anarika, Essequibo River.
According to a police source, Amad was in Rockstone Village visiting his “child mother”, when around 19:00hrs, he ventured into a forest nearby to hunt.
Shortly after, it was reported that a loud explosion was heard and upon investigation, Amad’s body was discovered in a pool of blood.
His body which bore a suspected gunshot injury to the stomach, is presently at the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
