In the space of three years, Kimberly Brasington has become the face of ExxonMobil. She has engaged the media from time to time on important matters in the oil sector and has often sought to clarify several misconceptions about the coming of oil and what it means for Guyana’s economy.

But on July 1, Brasington’s role as ExxonMobil’s Head of Public Relations will come to an end. Taking over on that date will be Deedra Moe. Like Brasington, this accomplished American woman was introduced to members of the media last night during a press mixer at the Pegasus Hotel’s Aura Bar and Lounge.

Introducing Deedra Moe as a ‘perfect fit’, Brasington said she is hopeful that with the support of the Public and Government Affairs team of locals, her successor will be triumphant in the challenges that lie ahead. Moe who arrived in Guyana last week, has been with ExxonMobil for 16 years and is here for a transitioning period.

The evening was highlighted by the introduction of a signature cocktail in honor of Kimberly Brasington to mark her time here and the great contribution she has made to the Liza project; and to Guyana.

Brasington, who will be moving on to a new position in Houston, Texas, described her time here as ‘amazing, though challenging at times.’ In a heartfelt speech, she expressed sadness at leaving Guyana where she acknowledged personal development alongside professional success, and also noted the diverse cultural experiences she has come to love and understand.
