A 21-year-old mason was fatally shot around 19:30 hrs last night at ‘C’ Field Access Road, Sophia during an outing with his girlfriend. The dead man has been identified as Ronsely Clarke, of Lot 181 Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
According to information received, the victim was in the company of his girlfriend—partying at a popular hangout spot in Sophia when the suspect approached the duo, whipped out a gun and discharged several rounds at Clarke.
The lone gunman then fled the scene and remains on the run.
The Guyana Standard was informed that two of the bullets struck the victim to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time.
