A 45-year-old drug addict was killed late Saturday night on Lombard and Leopold Streets, Georgetown for allegedly switching dealers.
The deceased has only been identified as “Buckman.” He was stabbed to death around 23:00 hrs last night by four men who are on the run. According to information received, the attack occurred after the deceased stop purchasing drugs from the four suspects.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that the 45-year-old man, who has no fixed place of abode, had been purchasing drugs from the four suspects and reselling it in different communities.
However, for the past two weeks, reports are that the victim stopped purchasing the illicit substance from the suspects because he got a better deal from another individual in Agricola, East Bank Demerara.
Last night, the victim was in the Leopold Street area when he was confronted by the four suspects and stabbed to the abdomen. He died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Eyewitnesses have provided the police with the names of the four suspects.
Meanwhile, in another case, investigators in Corentyne, Berbice are investigating the murder of 29-year-old Desmond Seeodat allegedly by a 14-year-old around 16:00 hrs yesterday at Auchlyne Village.
Seeodat was stabbed to the stomach. He was pronounced dead at the Port Mourant Hospital.
The Guyana Standard was told that both the suspect and the victim were reportedly smoking an illicit substance—believed to be cocaine—hours before the murder.
Reports are that the suspect and the victim got into an argument which subsequently resulted in the teen stabbing the deceased.
The police have since detained the teenager.
