The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has observed a decrease in serious crimes in the West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo Region, following its tactical undertakings through the regular presence of its ranks.
In fact, the Force announced today that it has been successful in the interception of a number of individuals who were arrested and charged with the possession of guns and ammunition, and other offences.
This development was amplified this morning about 03:30hrs when a police team commanded by a Sergeant conducted a stop and search exercise on the Meer-Zorgen Public Road, West Bank Demerara (Western End of the Harbour Bridge). During the stop and search of a yellow wagon motorcar with its driver and two occupants (all men), a laptop, ear-pieces, four cellular phones, an Amazon tablet, an assortment of jewels, a Guyana passport, local and foreign currencies, and other items were found in the vehicle.
The vehicle and suspects were escorted to the nearby La Grange Police Station where, minutes later, two reports of breakages in the Canal # 1 Polder, West Bank Demerara were reported and the victims, both female educators, positively identified all of the aforementioned items as their property.
The suspects, who have all given several addresses each, are assisting with the investigations.
