Despite the intense focus being placed on domestic violence and spousal abuse, the unacceptable scourge continued last night with the brutal murder of a woman by her husband who then took his own life.
The dead woman has been identified as 34-year-old Naco Hale of Kuru Kururu, Linden/Soesdyke Highway. Hale was severely chopped about the body by her reputed husband, Alwyn Butcher, 38, who was recently released from prison for an assault matter.
After murdering the mother of his four children, the ex-con committed suicide by ingesting a poisonous substance believed to be carbon tablets. His lifeless body was discovered on a bed in the room he once shared with Hale.
The woman’s body however, was found on the floor of the said room—in a pool of blood. The gruesome discovery was made by the children when they got up this morning to get ready for school.
At this point, it is unclear what caused Butcher to go berserk. Divisional Commander, Marlon Chapman, confirmed that his ranks are at the scene.
