The police are hunting for the rider of a Honda motorcycle, CJ 528 3, who struck and killed a pensioner on the Nismes Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Hubert Caesar of Lot 9596 Nismes Public Road. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious state and died while receiving treatment.
The motorcyclist fled the scene after hitting the elderly man. The suspect left his motorcycle behind.
According to information received, the motorcyclist was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the Public Road at a fast rate when he struck down Caesar, who crossing the road on his pedal cycle to go home.
The victim had to be rushed to the hospital by passersby. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the nearest police station.
