The inaugural chartering ceremony of the Legendary Toastmasters Club on Tuesday at the Middle Street, Georgetown Hibiscus Restaurant saw the induction of 25 charter members and the installation of the club’s executive committee.
Conducting the Installation were Area Director Keon Smith CC, ALB along with Past Area Director Toastmaster Maurice Munro CC, ALB.
Toastmaster Nicholas Deygoo, the Chief Executive Officer at National Hardware, was tasked with delivering the feature address during which he congratulated the inductees on joining the club, which will furnish them with the requisite leadership and oratory skills to progress further within their organizations, community and country.
Area Director Keon Smith and Toastmaster of the meeting Mary Adams CC, CL spoke of the journey of personal and professional growth that founding members are undertaking. They advised that the process will allow members to enhance their communication skills by practicing in impromptu speaking and delivering prepared speeches.
At the forum too, Toastmaster Bianca Cummings CC was installed as club president. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude for the support of all the members and promised to maintain the high standards of Toastmasters. The other executive members installed were Vice President Education Beverley Bobb CC; Vice President Membership Athalyah Yisrael CC, CL, DL2; Vice President Public Relations Alisha Budhram; Secretary Christina Deodass; Treasurer Vinish Etwaroo ACB, ALB and Sergeant-at-Arms Navin Deonarayan.
Toastmaster Kester Whyte, the current national Humorous Speech Champion delivered a soulful poem on how to deal with loneliness. The new club will meet every Thursday at the National Hardware Boardroom from 5:15-6:15 PM and will be holding a membership drive, later this year, to attract 10 new members. New Members will learn communication and leadership skills through the Pathways education platform, which includes motivational strategies, leadership development, innovative planning, visionary communication and Team Collaboration.
Legendary Toastmasters Club # 7117083 was charted by Toastmasters International in October 2018, and recently received its charter certificate.
