“I found it on the side of the road and I decided to keep it because I thought it was achar,” were the words of a man who pleaded guilty to a narcotics trafficking charge.
Robert Bajnauth, 30, admitted that on March 6, 2019 at Charlestown, Georgetown he had in his possession 12 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
He was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on March 6, 2019, at around 18:00 hrs, police was on patrol duties in the Charlestown area when they observed the Bajnauth acting in a suspicious manner. He was then stopped and a search was carried out on him and the narcotics were found in a haversack that he was carrying.
The Magistrate after listening to the facts sentenced Bajnauth to three years imprisonment along with a fine of $30,000.
