Investigators are clueless in the murder of 63-year-old Claymont Telford who was brutally beaten during a home invasion on Sunday morning at 101 Republic Drive, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Telford died in a bread shop he operated in the front of his home. He and his wife, Shondel Emmanuel, were preparing to close that shop when the three masked men stormed in on them. One of the suspects was armed with gun.
The deceased’s wife was taken to their home by one of the men where she handed over cash and jewelry, amounting to a little over one million dollars. When the woman returned to the shop, she discovered her spouse motionless. He was repeatedly gun-butted to the back of his head.
This morning, a source close to the investigation said that the wife was interviewed at the scene and provided all the necessary information, including descriptions of the suspects. The challenging part now is for the lawmen to locate the killers.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that detectives have not yet received any names of possible suspects. “There were no cameras at the scene and the men were also masked so the investigation will be challenging,” a source said.
Ranks will be revisiting the crime scene today and will re-interview the deceased’s wife as they continue to hunt for the three suspects.
