Talks are underway with a delegation known as major Japanese Solar Producer for possible investments in Guyana for renewable energy power plants, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure has said.
On Friday, March 15, 2019, the United States, Korean, Malaysian Group, Smart Clearing and Capital Fund met with Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Chief Executive Office of the Hinterland Electrification Company Inc., Mr. Horace Williams, to discuss investments for renewable energy power plants in Guyana.
The delegation is known as a major Japanese Solar Producer and has executed 3100MW power plant projects in Japan and Korea.
According to information released by the Ministry today, deliberations will continue within the following months. It was noted too that collaborations in this regard is aimed at helping the Ministry to fulfill His Excellency, President David Granger’s vision to accomplish a 100 percent renewable economy by the year 2025-2030.
Moreover, the Ministry said that it welcomes such partnership and investment in the energy sector.
At the recent meeting, Williams met with Gavin Singh of BGI Malaysia; Joshua Song and Kim Chang of Capital Fund; Kwon Yong, Seong Li of Capital Fund and Steven Jasman of Smarty City Clearings Corporation.
