Expressing his satisfaction with the majority ruling of the Court of Appeal that 34 votes were needed for government to defeat the December 21 No-Confidence Motion, Attorney General Basil Williams has declared that his government is legal.

In this regard, Williams said that his government will go on with business as normal. He described the ruling in favour of government as a “team effort.”

Anil Nandlall, attorney-at-law for Leader of the Opposition, Bharat Jagdeo vented his disappointment with the ruling by Chancellor of the Judiciary Yonette Cummings-Edwards and Justice of Appeal Dawn Gregory.

“We felt that 33 has always constituted a majority in our National Assembly since Independence”, Nandlall noted.

Nandlall indicated to reporters that the battle is not over, since he intends to ask the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) for a review.
