A 22-year-old employee at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) died in a three-vehicle collision late last night on the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The deceased has been identified as Collin Bourne of Lot 91 Timehri Prison Area, EBD. Bourne was riding motorcycle, CH 6758, when he was struck down.
According to information received, minibus PHH 3467 was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the public road whilst minibus BVV 5802 and the motorcyclist were proceeding in the opposite direction with the cycle in the rear.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that Bourne overtook minibus, BVV 5802, and eventually collided with minibus PHH 3467.
A traffic policeman said the 22-year-old subsequently fell onto the roadway and mini bus, BVV 5802, ran over his body. He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he died. The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The drivers are in custody assisting with the investigation. They were breathalysed and the driver of PHH 3467 was found above the legal limit.
