All four of the ministers who resigned in keeping with the court ruling that they cannot sit in the National Assembly while holding citizenship to other states have been given senior positions within the ministries from which they resigned.
About two weeks ago, President David Granger announced the appointment of former Minister of State Joseph Harmon as Director General of the Ministry of the Presidency (MoTP). MoTP is the umbrella body for the Ministry of State.
Today, the Ministry of the Presidency announced similar patterns for all other ministers who resigned.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge has been appointed Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with responsibility for the Department of Frontiers and Territorial Integrity and the Department of Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Former Minister of Business Dominic Gaskin has been appointed Director of Manufacturing and Marketing within the Ministry of Business, with responsibility for the enforcement of standards, providing assistance to small producers, and access to markets, particularly Eastern Caribbean markets.
Further, former Minister of Public Service Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine has been appointed Director of Public Service Training within MoTP, with responsibility for training standards at the Bertram Collins College of the Public Service, Guyana Defence Force Staff College, and the Guyana Police Force Staff College.
