After nearly two hours of deliberation, a 12-person jury today determined that Junior Anthony Henry, the man accused of killing Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara mason Michael Hamilton, was guilty of the murder.

Henry, also known as ‘Oswald’, was convicted for the unlawful killing which occurred on October 7, 2013 at Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara. His trial was heard at the High Court in Georgetown.

Prosecutors Tiffini Lyken and Sarah Martin presented the State’s case while attorney-at-law Lyndon Amsterdam appeared for the now convicted killer.

Trial judge James Bovell-Drakes has deferred Henry’s sentencing until May 31, 2019 after a probation report is presented to the court.

According to reports, Henry shot and killed Hamilton and then made good his escape. It was reported that the killing stemmed from a sexual affair involving the men and a female.

Following the killing, the police issued a wanted bulletin for Henry.
