More than a week after a young man was killed in Bagotstown while drinking with friends in an abandoned yard, a labourer was moments ago charged with his murder.

Kevin Rose, 22, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that, on May 9, 2019 at Bagotstown while being in the company of others, he murdered Patrick Fraser, called ‘White Boy’, during the course of a robbery.

The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. He was represented by attorney-at-law Everton Singh-Lammy in association with attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes.

Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court the investigation is still ongoing. Therefore, he asked the court for two weeks to complete the file.

The magistrate, after listening to the facts, remanded Rose to prison until June 24, 2019.

According to information, on the day in question Fraser was shot twice while imbibing with friends in an abandoned yard, known as the “drug yard”, at Bagotstown.

Fraser, of Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, died at the Diamond Hospital. Investigators believed that the young man was executed.

The police recovered a .32 spent shell, one warhead, a pair of slippers, and a white cap at the crime scene.
