There was a shootout between police ranks and bandits at Norton Street, Georgetown.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that ranks of a mobile patrol cornered at least three men in a house less than an hour ago.
The suspected bandits had invaded the property during a robbery. However, the occupants managed to escape and flagged down a police patrol.
In a video recording seen by this news agency, ranks were seen taking cover as they returned fire at the bandits.
