A vehicle that is assigned to the Mayor of Georgetown, Ubraj Narine, was this afternoon involved in an accident on the Rupert Craig Highway, East Coast Demerara (ECD) in the vicinity of Movie Towne.
The Toyota Fortuner bearing registration number, PPP 8909, crashed into three parked cars, injuring the driver of one of the vehicles who was sitting inside. The Mayor was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that the Mayor’s driver, who was heading to Georgetown, reported to the police that he lost control of the vehicle which caused him to slam into the cars.
Both the Mayor’s driver and the driver of one of the crashed cars were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment.
