The driver who sustained injuries when a vehicle that is assigned to the Mayor of Georgetown, Ubraj Narine, crashed into his car and two other vehicles on the Rupert Craig Highway, East Coast Demerara (ECD) yesterday has succumbed.
The deceased has been identified as Mitford Cambridge of Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD). He died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation this morning. Cambridge was sitting in his car outside of Movie Towne when the Mayor’s driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the three cars. Mayor Narine was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that the Mayor’s driver, who was heading to Georgetown, reported to the police that he lost control of the vehicle which caused him to slam into the cars.
Both drivers were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation but only Cambridge was admitted.
The investigation is ongoing.
