A 40-year-old resident of Sand Hill, Berbice River, screamed his attacker’s name to the police just before he passed away around 07:00 hrs yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Elvis Benedict who worked as a chainsaw operator. He was found on the roadway of his village with multiple stab wounds about the body and died on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that while police ranks were escorting a badly wounded Benedict to the hospital, he reportedly identified his attacker to the cops who were sitting in the back of the vehicle with him.
The police have since arrested a 28-year-old resident of the same community as they continue to probe the murder.
