Chief Finance Officer of Roraima Airways Mitra Ramkumar was on Friday re-elected President of The Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) at the organisation’s 26th Annual General Meeting.
Ramkumar was also elected President at the previous AGM. Also elected to be a part of the body’s Executive Council are: Harrinand Persaud, MBA, Chief Financial and Marketing Officer at King’s Jewellery World as Vice President; Camille Boodhoo, Managing Director of Old Fort Tours and Angellina’s Travel Service as Treasurer; and Committee Members: Kevin Daby, CEO of Grand Coastal Hotel; Carol Ann Marcus, the Tourism Development Coordinator at Iwokrama; Melanie McTurk, the Managing Director at Karanambu Lodge; and Kenneth Shivdyal, the Destination Development Manager at Wilderness Explorers.
The recent election will see Andrea de Caires of Wilderness Explorers continuing to serve as the Immediate Past President.
As the new president, Ramkumar has committed to focusing on increasing the hosting of events to boost domestic tourism and the business of the THAG Membership; expanding the Membership as well as partnerships with NGOs, Government of Guyana agencies and Private Sector Enterprises; and increasing Marketing Activities for Member Operations and supporting Destination Promotion.
At the AGM, THAG also re-appointed Ram and McRae as its Auditors for the new financial year.
