A postmortem examination (PM) done on the remains of 26-year-old Schenise Apple, the nurse whose body was found hanging from the grill of her bedroom window at a hostel in Mahdia, has revealed that she died from asphyxiation.
A photograph which has been in circulation showed the young nurse hanging from her neck by a piece of cloth that was tied to the grillwork on a window. Her feet were just a few inches off the ground.
Apple, who resided in Linden, was placed to work at the Mahdia hospital. Her family claimed that she was assaulted by a man a few weeks before she died. They believed that the individual might have had something to do with her death.
Her body was found around 18:00 hrs by a colleague after she failed to report to work.
According to information received, Apple returned to the hostel late on July 1 last after leaving the hospital. She was supposed to return to work the following day. When she failed to show up at work, one of her colleagues went to check on her.
It was there that Apple’s body was found hanging from the grillwork of her bedroom. No one has been arrested as yet.
