A 20 years’ jail sentence was this morning handed down to 63-year-old Gregory Ramkissoon who admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a toddler girl in 2016.
Ramkissoon was arraigned before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall at the Sexual Offences Court in Demerara.
He admitted that on January 4, 2016, in Demerara, he engaged in sexual activity with a four-year-old child.
In considering an appropriate sentence for Ramkissoon, the judge was cognizant of the fact that he threw himself at the mercy of the Court by pleading guilty.
The Judge also considered his age and ordered that he does not become eligible for parole until after serving 15 years of his sentence.
The Guyana Standard understands that Ramkissoon is currently serving a sentence for indecent and sexual assault that he committed on the same victim.
Representing the state were lawyers Tuanna Hardy and Sarah Martin while lawyer Rabindra Mohabir appeared for the sex offender.
