A 20-year-old man was killed while his brother was brutally beaten last night by three men at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
The attack on the duo happened around 22:45 hrs on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Alvin Seenarine called “Chockoloo” of Lot 820 ‘G’ Zeelugt North.
He died on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. His brother, Devendra Seenarine, is said to be in a critical condition at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
According to information received, the siblings who were imbibing at a relative’s home in their village, left around 22:42 hrs on a pedal cycle. Shortly after the men departed, the deceased’s relative told police that he heard a commotion and when he checked, he saw the siblings were being attacked by three men.
The brothers were beaten until they were both unconscious after which their attackers ran away.
The victim was taken to the hospital where the 20-year-old took his last breath.
It is unclear what caused the assault on the brothers. No one has been arrested as yet.
