City Magistrate Leron Daly yesterday released a man on $10,000 bail after he denied that he stole 50 coconuts from a woman’s backyard.
Twenty-eight-year-old Bernard Bourne of Sophia pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 10 at Garnett Street, Kitty, he stole 50 coconuts valued at $10,000, the property of Shavanie Hinds.
According to information, on the day in question Hinds was at home when she heard a noise coming from her backyard. Upon checking, she saw the defendant picking up the coconuts and placing them in a bag.
She then called the police who arrived shortly after and arrested him.
Magistrate Daly released Bourne on $10,000 bail.
He was instructed to make his next court appearance on August 27.
