Two men, who were recently charged for breaking into a Regent Road store and carting off $1M worth of vehicle accessories, were today each sentenced to one-year imprisonment for the offence.

The sentencing was this afternoon handed down by Magistrate Annette Singh in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.

The 38-year-old mason, Deon Brown of 207 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, and 20-year-old Trevin Alleyne of Leopold Street, Georgetown, had both denied the charge which stated that between April 26, 2019, and April 27, 2019, at Regent Road, Bourda, they broke into and entered a business place of Vivikanand Ramoutar and stole articles in excess of $1M, property of the said businessman.

It was reported that on April 26 at about 17:00hrs, the victim secured his place of business at Lot 104 Regent Road Bourda and left.

The following day, police ranks, acting on information received, went to the location and apprehended the defendants with the alleged stolen articles in their possession.
