Fire fighters this morning stumbled upon the bodies of two persons as they tried to determine the origin of a fire that destroyed four buildings, including business establishments this morning at the Vreed-en-hoop junction, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The victims have not been identified as yet but are believed to be Chinese nationals who resided at a supermarket that was also destroyed in the early morning blaze.
The blaze is believed to have started sometime around 01:45 hrs at the supermarket. A Chinese restaurant, a boutique, a book store and a phone store were also destroyed in the fire.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that the destroyed buildings were being used as both homes and business establishments with persons residing upstairs and the lower flat being rented out.
