A man who allegedly rubbed his body against a four-year-old girl, was today charged for the offence.
Fifty-five-year-old John Fitzgerald Hopkinson of Kitty, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on April 26, 2019, at Queen Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he sexual assaulted a four year old girl.
The matter was heard in-camera and members of the public and the media were asked to leave the courtroom.
The man was released on $20,000 bail and instructed to make his next court appearance on October 14.
The Magistrate also ordered that he gets mental evaluation to ascertain if he is fit to stand trial.
