A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance for Change (AFC), are still in the process of reviewing the Cummingsberg Accord – the agreement that facilitated their union during the 2015 General and Regional Elections.
This is according to the Peoples’ National Congress Reform (PNCR) Leader, and President of Guyana, David Granger.

The Head of State indicated that the Coalition’s Prime Ministerial candidate will depend largely on the outcome of those negotiations.
“I cannot say now, who I would be running with, but I can assure you that the two groups are reviewing the 2015 accord and we hope to come up with a revised accord very soon,” the President told media operatives this morning at an event.

Leader of the Alliance for Change and Public Security Minister, Khemraj Ramjattan, was selected by his party to stand as its next Prime Ministerial candidate, and has since signalled his willingness to serve as the second in command.

AFC’s General Secretary, David Patterson, told the media on July 11 that the AFC reserves the right to appoint whomever it chooses as the prime ministerial candidate.
He said that the accord specifically states that “the AFC shall nominate the Prime Ministerial Candidate, and the APNU shall nominate the presidential candidate.”
“[We] will not entertain any discussion that changes that, and that’s just the way it is,” Patterson had said.
