The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is urging residents to be vigilant following reports of persons purporting to be “GECOM officials” visiting homes and offering to conduct transactions as part of the Claims and Objections exercise.
In a statement to the media, GECOM is urged that residents only conduct transactions at the Permanent and temporary GECOM Registration Offices.”
Earlier today, GECOM called on residents of Tushen, East Bank Essequibo, to be on the lookout for persons in the community, who are claiming that the House-to-House registration was illegal.
The notice also stated, “Do not accept offers to be registered. These persons have NOT been authorised by GECOM and you should not furnish them with any personal information.”
Persons are being urged to report any such issues to the nearest police station.
