“I have to tell the truth. I came out of my house and went to buy pampers and powder. While on the road I saw Sherwin Fordyce and he give me the gun to hold so I put it in my pants waist,” were the words of a teenager who pleaded guilty to two firearm-related charges.
Nineteen-year-old Shamar Plass of Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.
It is alleged that on November 3, 2019, at Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, he had in his possession a .38 revolver when he was not the holder of a firearm licensed enforced at the time.
It was further alleged that on the same day and at the same location, he had in his possession three live rounds of .38 ammunition.
An unrepresented Plass pleaded guilty to both charges after they were read to him.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell stated that on the day in question, around 18:30 hrs, police, acting on information, went to Laing Avenue where they observed the defendant sitting at the side of the road.
The court heard that the ranks approached him and requested to carry out a search and the firearm was found in the waist of his pants.
He was then told of the offence and taken to the station, hence the present charge.
The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, remanded Plass to prison and ordered that a probation report be prepared.
She will then sentence him on November 21.
