Rajen Dindial was this afternoon found guilty of manslaughter in relation to the unlawful killing of Ashton Henry, who was beaten with a paddle outside a wedding house at Grove, East Bank Demerara.

Dindial, also called ‘Eric’, was initially charged with the September 03, 2017 murder of Henry. The jury, however, found him unanimously guilty on the lesser offence manslaughter.

The convicted miller returns to court on Friday, September 28, 2019, for the presentation of a probation report and sentencing by Justice Jo Ann Barlow.

Dindial was represented by lawyer Nigel Hughes, while the State was represented by lawyers Sarah Martin and Shawnette Austin.

According to reports, Dindial and Henry were at a wedding celebration at Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara when an argument ensued between them after Henry pushed down a portable toilet and refused to pick it up.

Based on reports, Dindial became annoyed, armed himself with a paddle and dealt the victim several lashes about his body.

Henry fell unconscious and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed.
