The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of Marlon Seon Rodney, called ‘George’, who was shot and killed earlier this year, continued this morning in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Those charged for his murder are Osafa Grundell, 39, called ‘Safo’ of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown; and James Fraser, 21, called ‘Dab’ of Garnett Street, Georgetown.

The duo was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that between April 25, and April 30, last, at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, they murdered Rodney.

This morning, when the matter was called, one of the key witnesses took the stand in the witness box where she gave an extensive testimony as it relates to what she saw transpired on the day Rodney was shot.

The woman told the court she knows Grundell for over two decades since she had a relationship with his uncle and she knows Grundell since he was a child. The witness added that as Grundell grew older she would from time to time see him pass on the street hanging with friends.

The witness was then asked by Police Prosecutor Dominic Bess to look around the court and see if Grundell was in the courtroom.

The witness who was standing in the witness box looked at the two murder accused who were seated in the prisoners’ dock and remained silent. After a few seconds elapsed, the prosecutor repeated the question twice and the woman did not reply as she stood still with a smile on her face.

At this point, Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty turned to the witness and told her to look around the courtroom to see if Grundell was anywhere in the courtroom and after a while, the witness in a quiet tone replied in the negative.

However, when asked about James the number two accused, she positively pointed him out in the courtroom.

The matter was then adjourned until January 10, 2020.

It was reported that on the day in question, 35-year-old Rodney, a taxi driver of 71 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was involved in an argument with three individuals.

It was reported that the men then pulled out guns and discharged several rounds at Rodney, who was hit in the left leg.

An injured Rodney was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed to his injuries.

Two months ago, the burnt body of 36-year-old Collin Rodney of 70 Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, was discovered in the trunk of his silver grey Toyota Allion bearing registration number PRR 1076. however, police are yet to confirm this.

This is after he went missing while making his way to court to testify in the PI.
Collin, who was the cousin of Seon was the main witness in the murder PI since he was on the scene.
