Leon Johnson’s side opted to field on the first day of their second practice match at the Providence National Stadium on Thursday, prior to the commencement of the CGI Regional 4 Day Championship. Opening batsmen for Anthony Adams’ team, Trevon Griffith and Raymond Perez tried valiantly to disrupt the plans of Johnson’s side, when they added 55 for the first wicket, before Trevon Griffith was caught by Veerasammy Permaul off the bowling of Raymon Reifer for 24.
Perez went on to make 46, inclusive of 4 fours and 2 sixes within 120 minutes, off 79 balls, before being bowled by Christopher Barnwell. Akshaya Persaud also had a decent start, but was bowled by Devendra Bishoo for 32. His knock lasted 1 11 minutes and came off of 81 balls and included 5 fours.
Veerasammy Permaul claimed the wickets of Kemol Savory who was bowled for 4 and Ricardo Adams, lbw for 3. Kevin Sinclair had Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed caught by Vishaul Singh for 39, Quintin Sampson bowled for 15 and Gudakesh Motie caught Tevin Imlach for duck. Raymon Reifer, also dismissed Nail Smith caught and bowl for 2, and took the prized wicket of Jonathan Foo who was caught by Tevin Imlach for 60.
Foo ‘s 137 ball innings lasted 144 minutes, and included 6 fours. The main wicket takers were, Raymon Reifer 3 for 18 from 9.5 overs, Kevin Sinclair 3 for 53 from 12 overs and Veerasammy Permaul 2 for 72 from 25 overs. Anthony Adams’ side was bowled out for 244 off 74.5 overs.
At close of play on day one, Leon Johnson’s side was 85 for 1 off 21 overs with Chandrapaul Hemraj and Leon Johnson unbeaten on 46 and 23 respectively. Hemraj’s inning has so far included 4 fours and two sixes off 60 balls from 80 minutes, while Leon Johnson batted for 72 minutes, faced 64 balls and hit two fours. Johnson’s side trails Adams’ Team in the first innings by 159 runs.
