Investigators probing the deaths of a young couple who was found dead in a bathtub at the Aracari Resort located at Lot 60 Plantation Versailles, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Sunday, are convinced that they committed suicide.
The bodies of 24-year-old Vishaul Kevin Singh, a driver, who worked at Guysuco and of Lot 18 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD); and 25-year-old Subrina Nandram, a mother of two of Lot 8 Mon Repos were discovered late yesterday by hotel workers.
They were found naked and facing each other in the hotel’s bathtub. A bottle containing an agricultural chemical called Farmizone was found at the scene. Its green liquid content was seen thrown all over their rented room.
A police source said that a lot of Banks and Stag beer bottles were also seen in the room. Post mortem examinations will be done on Wednesday to confirm the cause of death.
While the motive for the couple’s suicide is unclear at this point, the police source said that Nandram’s former in-laws revealed that the woman had allegedly informed her two children that she was going to poison them.
“These children live with her ex-husband’s parents in Mon Repos and she move back with her parents after the separation. So for the holiday, they (children) went and spend three weeks with her and when they went back to their grandparents’ home on Saturday, one of the sons told them that his mother said she was going to give them poison,” the police source said.
The child was interviewed by police officers and he revealed the same information. According to information received, the young woman and her former husband separated when he went to the United States of America and overstayed his time.
As a result of this, she allegedly started a relationship Singh. The 24-year-old victim’s brother, Ravin, said that he has no idea what could have caused the suicide since no one objected to their relationship. He said that the couple was in love with each other.
