25-year-old Travis Evans who is still awaiting trial for two murders and rape was this morning sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on an armed robbery charge. The sentence was handed down by Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall at the High Court in Demerara. On December 09, 2019, Evans pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that October 30, 2010, while in the company of two others, and armed with a knife, he robbed a woman of $650,000 in cash.

Also on December 09, 2019, Evans had pleaded guilty to a charge which alleged that he engaged in sexual penetration with a woman without her consent on October 30, 2010. However, this morning it was explained to the court that Evans related he felt pressured into entering the guilty plea. As a result, the judge struck it out. Evans was among the inmates who broke out of the Lusignan Prison in 2018. He is currently on remand for the murder of 21-year-old Timehri, East Bank Demerara resident, Ronsley Clarke.

Clarke was shot and killed on August 02, 2018 while partying with his girlfriend at a shop in Sophia, Greater Georgetown. Furthermore, he is also accused of the August 03, 2018 murder of Gregory Frank, a 46-year-old Legal Clerk who was discovered dead in his Kuru Kururu, Linden highway home. The man’s lifeless body was found face down in the living room; his cause of death was given as injuries to the neck compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
