Guyana’s top female Badminton player, Priyanna Ramdhani won a silver medal after reaching the Finals at the 2020 Honolulu Open A-Division Tournament held in Hawaii USA from January 3-5.
President of the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA), Gokarn Ramdhani noted; “This is a great start for her, beginning the year on a positive note and keeping her consistency going as in the past years”.
Priyanna departed Canada on January 2 to attend the tournament; the GBA boss pointed out that her training during the holidays paid off with her being able to compete in the Senior Division and medal even though she’s still a Junior player.
In the Round-Robin play-off in the Open Singles (A-Division), Priyanna defeated
Rachel Cheung in sets of 21-11 and 21-13 before moving on to beat Samantha Hsu 21-15 and 21-17.
However, she would eventually lose to Eyota Kwan 21-13 and 21-10 in the Finals.
The silver medal added to her performances in 2019 which included being Guyana’s current National Junior Ranking No.1, Guyana’s Current National Senior Ranking No.1 along with CAREBACO International Current Under-19 Ranking No.1 (Triple Champion). She also picked up the coveted Guyana Junior Sportswoman of the Year (2019) accolade.
