Five months ago, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Andre Kellman, was charged with sexual assault and released on $70,000 bail for allegedly kissing a woman twice without her consent.

The matter was moments ago dismissed by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

This is after the victim went into the witness box and told the court that she does not wish to offer evidence against the defendant.

The 54-year-old, who is in charge of operations at the airport, was charged last August when he had appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on July 30, 2018, at CJIA, Timehri, East Bank Demerara, he sexually assaulted a 34-year-old woman.

According to information, the victim alleged that she was held and kissed twice in Kellman’s office when she visited him last year.

It was reported that the woman went to Kellman’s office to ask for help in removing the wheel clamps on her employer’s vehicles.

However, while she was leaving, Kellman allegedly blocked her exit and kissed her without her permission. She then reported the matter to CJIA’s CEO Ramesh Ghir who she said promised to probe the matter.

The matter was then reported to the police and, following advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Kellman was charged.
