By midday, today, there was a 65 to 70% voter turnout as joint services ranks cast their ballots, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Executive Member and Coalition Campaign Co-Manager, Joseph Harmon reported.

Harmon said that the Coalition has seen “very strong” turnouts so far, at the 82 polling places across Guyana.

“The figures that we’ve been able to acquire, so far, seems to suggest that the turnout is between 65 and 70% of the 10,226 ranks, who are registered to vote,” he said.

Harmon noted that the Coalition’s Presidential Candidate and incumbent President, David Granger, would have visited polling stations across Guyana, and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Guyana Elections Commissions (GECOM). Polling places were opened on time, and staff were present, generally, across the country, he said.

Harmon noted that this augers well for the arrangements to be made by GECOM for Elections Day, when there will be over 2,000 polling stations operating.

“I do believe that this is a good test, and so that GECOM can be able to fine-tune their arrangements for Elections day,” he said.
Harmon thanked the officers who voted, and encouraged those who have not, to do so.

Providing an update on the Coalition’s campaign, Harmon said: “Our campaign continues to march forward together, and we’re seeing unprecedented support across this Nation. Voters obviously see the progress and are coming out in numbers”.
