One week after a 22-year-old alleged bandit was fatally shot and his accomplice wounded during an attempted robbery on William Street, Campbellville, the police still do not know who opened fire on the men.
Randy Bowen, said to be a career thief, died at the scene of the robbery while his accomplice, Shaquille Mentor is hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Earlier today, a police source said that they are still trying to locate the shooter to get a statement of what really happened on that day. The source said that ranks were informed that the bandits were shot by a neighbour and then they were told that it was a businessman who opened fire on the men after witnessing the robbery.
“We are still investigating the shooting. Right now, the injured man (bandit) is under guard at the hospital so we haven’t gotten much information from him,” the source said.
The two bandits reportedly robbed a woman of her handbag when they were chased into a yard on William Street and shot.
At the scene, persons who recognized the deceased, described him as a regular “thief.” His father, Andrew Bowen said that he tried talking to his son several times about the company he followed but the young man never listened.
In March 2018, the deceased was charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation after he robbed two persons of their properties at Irving Street, Georgetown.
In July 2018, last, Bowen was jailed after he attempted to rob a policeman on Regent Street, Georgetown. He was only recently released from prison
