Although the police have confirmed that they know one of the individuals who shot and killed Cuban National, 35-year-old Ofredis Duarte last Thursday, they are having a hard time locating him.

Duarte of Lot 321 East Street, Georgetown was killed by two gunmen on a motorcycle during a robbery on Thursday last, while he was walking to his place of work at the Rosignol Butchery on Church Street.

Earlier today, Commander Edgar Thomas said that the shooter is known to police but he has not been arrested as yet. Ranks are hoping once the shooter is arrested, he will lead them to the second suspect.

Guyana Standard has been informed that surveillance footage helped to identify Duarte’s killers.

“One of the individuals is a known character. We don’t know who the second person is as yet,” the Commander said.

According to information received, the suspect who is known to the police has spent time in prison for robbery related matters.

The fatal shooting occurred shortly after 6:30 am when two men rode up beside the deceased and attempted to snatch his haversack. He was shot three times by the pillion rider when he put up a fight.

The suspects managed to make good their escape while the victim died at the scene.
