Following his demise almost one year ago in a three-vehicle collision along the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), a coroner’s inquest into the death of 22-year-old Collin Bourne will continue tomorrow before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Guyana Standard had previously reported that Bourne, an employee of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) was riding his bicycle when he overtook minibus, BVV 5802 which was proceeding south along the eastern carriage of the public road, and ended up colliding with minibus, PHH 3467.
He fell onto the roadway and was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he eventually died. A breathalyzer test was administered on both drivers and the driver of PHH 3467 was found to be above the legal alcohol limit. According to a notice published by the Registrar of the Supreme Court, 12 witnesses are to testify in the inquest proceedings.
They include four police ranks: Corporals Ashbourn Schults and Chrison Schultz and Constable Chandradev Persaud, all attached to the Brickdam Police Station. Also Constable Marlon Hannibal of the Timehri Police Station is listed as a witness. The other witnesses include Roscheal Borne, Rosanna Mervil and Afeena Howard, all of Timehri, EBD.
Hugh Munroe of Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara; Krishna Indar of Enmore Village, East Coast Demerara; David Carto of D’Aguair Park, EBD; Alwin Alexander of Kuru Kuru Squatting Area, EBD and Gavin Todd of Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara. The above named persons are being asked to be at the courthouse at 13:00hrs or 01:00 p.m.
