The lifeless body of a 49-year-old businessman was found this morning in a clump of bushes in a farm, not far from his home at Rose Hall, Corentyne, Berbice.
The deceased has been identified as Lorenzo John of Lot 11 East sideline dam, Rose Hall. His bound body was found early this morning.
Police suspect that the businessman, who operated a supermarket in the area, was strangled to death sometime between last night and early this morning.
His attackers used a pair of shoe lace to bound his feet.
Guyana Standard was told that the deceased lived alone. His home was ransacked and there was no evidence to suggest forced entry.
It is suspected that John was killed in his home and his body dumped at the site.
Investigation is ongoing.
