Two men who are no strangers to the courts, were today charged and remanded for breaking into a woman’s house and carting off her valuables.
Those charged are Joel Johnson, 27, a miner of Old Road Eccles, East Bank Demerara and Quincy Wilson, 22, a mechanic.
The men denied the joint charge which stated that between March 23 and March 24,2020, at First Street McDoom, East Bank Demerara, they broke into the dwelling house of Lisa Ahmad and stole a quantity of articles valuing $155,000. They appeared before City Magistrate Dylon Bess in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts .
Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to bail being granted to the men citing that they were jointly charged before with a similar offence.
The Prosecutor also told the court that Johnson was charged with attempted murder and has not been attending court for the Preliminary Inquiry(PI). He further highlighted that when the matter was reported to the police an investigation was conducted and the stolen articles were found in the duo’s possession. As such, the Magistrate remanded both men to prison until May 29.
