The number of confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Guyana has increased from eight to 12. This is according to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Dr Karen Gordon-Boyle.
Two infected persons have since died.
The Region breakdown is as follows: one case in Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); 10 cases in Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); and one in Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne). There is also one inconclusive case.
Of the total confirmed cases, the number of imported cases is four, with local transmission being eight.
The total number of persons tested has moved from 46 to 52, with 12 positives, 39 negatives and the single probable case.
The number of persons in institutional quarantine is now 43. Of the 11 persons in isolation, one is hospitalized in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
