A 20- year-old labourer, Fabian Abraham was yesterday remanded to prison for the March 25 murder of a 49-year-old man. Abraham appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson at the Lethem Magistrate’s Courts and was not required to plea to the indictable murder charge. It is alleged that on the aforesaid date, at Kanuku Drive, Lethem, Region Nine, he murdered Leron Ault, also known as “Junior”.
Based on previous reports, on the day in question at around 16:00hrs, Ault went to Kanuku Drive to uplift some cash that was owed to him by a woman. After the woman told Ault she was unable to make the payment he left and went into the backyard where he began drinking with some men, including Abraham.
An argument broke out, during which Abraham armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt Ault several lashes about his body. An injured Ault collapsed to the ground and was later rushed to the Lethem Regional Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. The murder accused will make his next court appearance later next month.
