In taking precautions against the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Social Protection has suspended visitation to several senior citizens’ home. These include the Palms Geriatric home on Brickdam. Visits to the Night Shelter, the Hugo Chavez Rehabilitation Centre and Reintegration Centre and the New Opportunity Corps, have also been suspended.
As of today, March 31, 2020, Guyana has recorded 12 positive cases for COVID-19, with two deaths occurring- one being that of a healthcare worker, occurring a few hours ago.
