A 20-year-old motorcyclist died this morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after being involved in an accident in Bartica last night.
The deceased has been identified as Raphael Haly of Robb Street, Georgetown. He died while receiving treatment for injuries he sustained in the accident.
Guyana Standard has been informed that Haly was on his way to purchase food at a restaurant when he allegedly failed to slow down at a speed hump and ended up losing control of the bike.
Reports are that the deceased slammed into a wall before colliding with a utility pole. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital.
He was eventually transferred to the GPHC’s Intensive Care Unit where he later succumbed.
