A housewife from Barama, Waini River, North West District has been arrested and has since confessed to killing her abusive husband at their home on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Clarence Williams also called Clarence Millington, a miner of Big Cannaballi, Barama. He was stabbed twice in the region of the groin and died in his bed.
According to information received, the victim who was under the influence of alcohol and his reputed wife were involved in an argument Sunday morning after which the woman left her home to attend church.
When she returned, her husband continued to verbally abuse her and threatened to push her head in a fire. An argument ensued between the couple and the deceased reportedly choked his reputed wife.
The police said that the woman, who was at the time cleaning fish with a knife, became annoyed and stabbed the victim twice.
The 35-year-old man was later found dead in his bed. The police said that neighbours reported that the woman was frequently abused by the deceased.
