Chairperson of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Justice (retired) Claudette Singh has made a report to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) after threats were made online to assassinate her.
When asked today if she is fearful for her life, Singh replied:”I am not afraid because death is inevitable and I believe in God.”
Government-nominated GECOM, Commissioner Vincent Alexander said that he too has been receiving threats on a daily basis, but said that he has not reported it to the police.
“… Every day they have something to say about me, they stalk me, all sorts of things,” the Commissioner said.
GECOM, National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) including health officials conducted a walkthrough earlier today of the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, where the recount of the votes cast in the March 2, 2020 elections is scheduled to take place.
Tomorrow will mark 50 days since the electorate cast their votes.
